Dr. Sollenberger’s recent Filene research monograph develops a methodology to evaluate a credit union’s financial performance. Five key parameters are stressed in the assessment. The study uses the following definition of high performance to determine whether a credit union is a “financially high-performing” credit union.
Given a strategic financial vision, a credit union should perform at a superior level relative to its peer group of credit unions in key financial measurements across multiple performance areas.
Individual credit unions can conduct their own internal studies using the methodology developed in either monograph version, available from the Filene Research Institute:
Financially “High Performing” Credit Unions: Evaluating Performance within a Strategic Financial Vision, Filene Research Institute, Madison, WI, 2008
Financially “High Performing” Credit Unions: Evaluating Performance within a Strategic Financial Vision – Research Methods and Results, Filene Research Institute, Madison, WI, 2008
The first monograph version is a 69-page summary edition. The second is available for download from the Filene website at: http://filene.org/publications/detail/financially-high-performing-credit-unions. It includes more extensive supplemental materials on ratio values, ranking methods, factor analysis, and ranking results.
Individual Credit Union Studies
Using databases developed for the monograph, Dr. Sollenberger can develop a ranking report for individual credit unions. The cost of such studies depends on the uniqueness of each study and considers whether a credit union:
selects an existing strategic approach(es) or creates a unique strategic financial vision of its own;
uses existing asset-size peer groups or creates its own unique peer group;
selects an existing set of financial ratios for an existing strategic approach or creates its own unique ratio set to support its strategic approach; and
selects ranking methods from available models.
Turn around time will depend on the uniqueness of the request.
