The K.I.S.S. Financial Model: Testing Goals from a Strategic Financial Vision
This is an Excel-based spreadsheet that creates future balance sheets and income statements for a simplified set of loan, investment, and deposit accounts. The intent is to test a set of financial goals from a strategic plan, an annual financial planning process, or a proposed business planning exercise. The objective is to keep it simple, avoiding complex modeling dilemmas.
Goals are monitored in the simulation model either directly as independent variables or in the form of monitored results as dependent variables. The model is described in the working paper:
Testing a Strategic Financial Vision: Using a Simple Financial Planning Model, Working Paper, 2008
The paper can be downloaded here.
The model itself is available on a diskette for purchase at a price of $195. Payment can be made by check payable to Sollenberger Associates and mailed to 4105 Naubinway Road, Okemos, MI 48864-3424 or through PayPal using hsolly@msu.edu as the PayPal addressee.
Database Creation
Over many years, numerous databases for credit union financial analysis have been developed for research and writing purposes by Dr. Sollenberger. These include risk-based net worth, industry financial ratios, performance assessment data, and specific purpose data files. The data sources are primarily from industry-wide NCUA 5300 reports, available electronically since 1994.
